Awards for Volunteers

Volunteering Wirral offers a number of recognition and awards schemes for volunteers. These awards are designed to recognise the hard work that volunteers do across Wirral and the different types of awards mean that you can access recognition schemes regardless of how long you have been volunteering, or how many hours you volunteer in a week. If your volunteering is helping you towards paid employment, a career change or accessing a training course, a recognised certificate can also help to add even more credibility to the volunteering that you are already doing. If you're volunteering for other reasons, then these award schemes allow us, and the organisation you volunteer with to say a big thank you for everything that you do. You can currently access any of the following award schemes:

100 Hours Certificate

Once your organisation has registered you for this scheme they will keep a log of the hours that you do. Once you reach 100 hours you will be eligible to receive a certificate at the next award ceremony. Most volunteers manage to achieve their 100 hours certificate in around 6 - 12 months.

Long Service Awards

If you have been a volunteer for a while the organisation you are volunteering with can nominate you for one of these awards. 3 years of volunteering qualifies you for the Bronze Award; 5 years for the Silver award and 10 and 20 years for the Gold and Platinum awards respectively.

Volunteer of the Year Award

Any Wirral volunteer can be nominated for this award, and anyone can make a nomination. All of the volunteers nominated are assessed by an independent panel and awards are given for six different categories - Disability, Elder, Sports, Unwaged, Waged and Youth. Each category will have one winner.  One of the category winners is then selected as the Volunteer of the Year.. This is our most prestigious event and is a fantastic evening of celebration.
